Job Description:
BUSINESS SUMMARY KEY RESPONSIBILITIES The Commercial Director is responsible for the development and implementation of the commercial strategy for SMP's Strip Business Segment, with accountability for growing the revenue and profitability of the businessThis role reports to the DVP, Business Segment ManagerEstablish and deploy the commercial strategy for Strip to meet or exceed revenue and profitability as presented in annual budget and quarterly forecasts.
Collaborate with Operations and Finance teams to align key financial objectives.
Improve or maintain customer relationships.
Continue to build a high performing commercial organization in Strip.
Negotiate, execute and manage customer long term agreements.
Develop and implement the sales channel strategy to secure long-term sales and market share growth.
Manage customer relationships and demand planning process to ensure that the Strip working capital objectives are met.
Make customer visits, provide sales presentations for all Strip product lines to technically qualify the customer's needsProfile description:
QUALIFICATIONS The ideal candidate will have both a technical and commercial background with experience in conducting International business.
Minimum of a Bachelor's degree, ideally materials science/engineering or metallurgy.
Experience of directly selling is required, with preference for experience in selling precision metal products.
Minimum of 3-5 years' experience in technical or product development (ideally in the specialty metals industry).
Ability and proven experience in managing and leading team.
Strong team player with ability to work collaboratively with Finance and Operations.
Proven track record of setting aggressive targets and meeting business goals.
Use of cost and profit as drivers for business decision making.
Proven record of continuous improvement with regards to increasing margins and introducing new products on aggressive timelines.
Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
Ability to translate technical product information into strong customer value propositions.
Proven experience in successfully executing long term agreements with OEMs.
