Actuarial Analyst II
Open to most Anthem locations
Analyst will be responsible for analytical support to Medicare Health Care Economics team members and customers. Analyst will complete projects and perform complex actuarial studies to support WellPoint's Medicare business.
Primary duties may include, but are not limited to:
o Obtain, verify, analyze and model data including membership, claims and revenue
o Participate in production of monthly trend reporting suite and continuous improvement of the reports
o Gather data to facilitate market related analytics
o Assist in defining and producing consistent, reconcilable market level performance metrics on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.
o Analyze and interpret results, identify emerging trends and communicate these emerging issues with the appropriate area
o Work with complex data from various sources
o Document analytical processes and methodologies
o Look for opportunities to automate production where appropriate and eliminate duplicity
o Manage time and workload to prioritize projects and tasks
o Bachelor's degree in Actuarial Science, Economics, Math, Statistics or related field
o Required to have passed at least three Society of Actuaries (SOA) or Casualty Actuarial Society (CAS) actuarial exams;
o 3 years of previous experience in financial and/or clinical data analysis
o At least one year related experience in health care analytics; or any combination of education and experience, which would provide an equivalent background.
o Experience performing data management, mining, and manipulation along with analytics.
o Strong customer service skills and the ability to work with a broad spectrum of analytical staff (e.g. finance, actuarial, medical management, regional teams, etc.).
o Aptitude for learning new tools, techniques, concepts and technologies
o Strong problem solving skills
o Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
o Strong organization and time management skills
o Self-starter with a dedication to a team-colleague orientated department
o Ability to work and problem solve with limited supervision
o Proficiency with Microsoft Excel
o One year working on Medicare is a plus
o Proficiency in SAS and Visual Basic is preferred
